✨ Welcome, Intro & Daily Check-In ツ

Hi there, I'm Stephanie, founder of 2nd-Family.org  welcome! 🌷 Happy April.

We run NoVA Home Share, a program for all, but with focus and a soft spot for older people living alone, making win/win arrangements all-around for homeowners and housemates. We also create and facilitate the self-employment gig ideas of veterans, teens w/autism, and others.

We are just getting started — talking to potential home sharing candidates, and exploring resources, arming ourselves with data and information to make more informed decisions as we push forward.

We welcome all constructive input! Please send your suggestions, thoughts, ideas, comments, or questions to steph@2nd-family.org.

The Fact Book will be updated annually. Not all figures will be updated each year, and the year of the most recent data update can be found in either the figure’s title or its source information.

With the moon’s lower gravity, members will enjoy a newfound ease of mobility, allowing them to move freely and with less pain than on Earth.”

"Saving Claire" Film Screening w/Q&A @IMCC 7pm Fri 3/19

Join IMCC and AARP Virginia for a screening of the documentary "Saving Claire" along with a discussion following the movie with the Northern Virginia Falls Prevention Alliance. The Saving Claire Falls Prevention Project starts with a groundbreaking documentary. The film explores the complex nature of aging, resistance to change, and all the relatable patterns that increase fall risk. Claire’s journey is a cautionary tale. The film explores Claire’s attitudes and actions, the spiral after her fall, and the dramatic events that follow. Audiences connect with and relate to Claire. After people see Saving Claire, they report that they are ready to change their behavior.

Who Will Care for Your Pet? by @DFS

An article in February’s Fairfax County Golden Gazette suggests a Pet Trust to ensure your pet is cared for when you are gone. I suggest a permanent roommate instead, so your pet can stay at home with somebody they hopefully/probably already know and love! Solo traveling is also possible and much easier for pet owners who have a roommate willing to help care for a pet - if agreed and the love of a household pet is shared, roommates could end up pet co-parenting! 🐢🐱
